"Midnight Magic Rainbow Ride"
Prismacolor on bristol  11" x 11"

This was the first of the color pencil images.  The source was a daydream visualization in the lobby of a hotel in Bridgeport, Connecticut and later executed in Findley, Ohio.   They've been my only venture into nonrepresentational art.
These images work with negative image retention and change when the retina tires.  Stare for a few minutes and you'll get the effect if your eyes can register the hue.  To get the effect you must hold your focus on a single dot near the center of the images.  It usually takes about two and a half minutes.  Unfortunately the resolution of fine detail is not sufficient on the PC monitor to cause the effect to occur.  Oddly the effect does not occur at all until the last of the lines is drawn.
