"Spring - Back Valley Road"
watercolor - 18" x 24"
2005

This is a 'gentleman's farm' on the Back Valley road near Speedwell, Tennessee.
The time is early April for the springtime has not yet fully climbed up the distant Cumberland range.

In deference to the 'gentleman' owner, he did not ask that I create this piece, someone else did.  It was to be a gift in return for his compassion and assistance in their time of need.  I learned a lot from this failed commission and the expectations that may exist.
I have spent years in the study of the masters of the Western world.  In the museum I require no headsets or queue cards to identify my tutors.  I spend really long hours in making my art, 60 hours at least on this piece.  To capture the atmosphere and ambience of a place, the essence of a thing,  requires as much.  Each piece is truly unique - there are no photographic 'prints' made - no duplicate copies.
Uniqueness and quality have their price.  It is not a craft but an art.  Viva la difference.
