No prettier drawings have ever been made. To reach the level of the old men, da Vinci and Michelangelo,
before he died at the age
of 37! Only a few beacons have ever burned so brightly. We know both of
them by their first names only, Raphael and Vincent.. |
| In March, 1989 I saw one of his
cartoons at the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. Almost 500
years old, a work of art on paper, I cannot describe how sublely,
awesomely beautiful it was. These are the things we keep from our
civilizations. |
