Winds were high and we almost got grounded in the channel. On our way back we towed in a power boat that day who had become stranded and was drifting out to sea. Thank goodness for sailboats!

Wild Bill's Charles Dickens Claim...

 

Uncle Bill said his mother's (my paternal grandma) distant cousin was Charles Dickens. Her maiden name was Dickens and she was born about 1875. Her mother, my great grandma Lucy Dickens was born in 1855 and lived till about 1940. Sadly, my Grandma Phillips died from cancer in about 1920.

 

Wild Bill Phillips was truly wild. A surgeon, he cut out my tonsils in 1952, threw me in his Jeep and drove me out to his desert cabin south of Yuma. Throats don't feel nearly so sore when you're fishing on the Colorado backwaters near Ferguson lake.  Read more about Growing Up In America, Capturing the Dream...
